SSSA President Michael Carrube was honored by the Bangladeshi American MTA-NYCT Society with a special Appreciation Award earlier today.
When presented with the award President Carrube said:
"I am both honored and humbled by this gesture. In 2015, When YOU, The members, elected us to take the reins of this union from the old guard to continue the fight for a better quality of life for all of our members both I and my staff were, and still are, solely focused on that mission.
It's been an arduous uphill battle that the SSSA has been fighting for the past 7 years and I promise we will continue to do just that.
We've had many wins during our administration. Everything from small, Like getting a member paid for a No Lunch, all the way to HUGE, Like saving a members' job especially when everyone thought there was no coming back. Each and every win for any member is a win for this union.
As I said before I am truly honored and humbled by this award. My goal to make this union a force to be reckoned with and for the betterment of its members is all I want to do.
This award tells me I must be doing something right.
I hope that this will be the start of a strong relationship not just with the Bangladeshi American MTA-NYCT Society but with all the societies, clubs, groups and members to come together for the advancement of this union and a better quality of life for our members and our families. We all need to show the true meaning of the word UNION!"
